About Our Logo

The tournament logo for the Scott A. Vivian Memorial Tournament is pictured here. For those who ordered the golf shirts, you will see this logo embroidered in white on the yellow shirt. Admittedly, a bit unusual but there is a special significance behind the drawing of the bird that we wanted to share with you.

Following Scott's passing, Hannah's third grade teacher thought it would be appropriate for the class to make cards to express their sympathy and support. One boy in the class drew a card that showed a smiley face on the front and this drawing of an upside-down bird inside - - the front read “I like pie”, and the inside read “Sorry your dad died. We miss you. I hope this makes you laugh”.

Robin shared that while the message was confusing; they were captivated by the strange drawing. It indeed brought much laughter into their home at a time when it was much needed. The drawing of the bird intrigued them, and soon after Robin began noticing interesting interactions with winged creatures.

On a shopping trip to pick up the girls' dresses for Scott's memorial service, Robin came upon a bird that had flown into the storefront window at Lord & Taylor. The next day, she was having breakfast at a neighbor's house, and a bird kept flying into their front door. More than a few of us noticed the ruckus that birds were making outside Ashburn Presbyterian Church during Scott's memorial service. And there have been several other situations since. Coincidence? Perhaps . . . or maybe . . .

Those who know Robin know of her strong belief in God and heaven. It occurred to Robin that among her final moments with Scott, she had asked that he try to let her know that everything was OK on the other side. From her vantage point, the many 'bird interactions' have given her hope and a renewed spirit.

For those of who participate in the golf outing, you will be looking for „birdies' on the golf course, but be sure to keep an eye out for the little yellow ones . . . it just might be Scott reminding you to keep your head down or helping you to read the break on the putt!
